This year we organised and ran this pre-conference workshop at Nice Acropolis Centre. 40 delegates attended the lecture/symposium only session in the morning, and 20 delegates attended the practical aspect of this workshop. This one-day workshop comprised theoretical presentations and practical exercises for the safe and effective application of open and laparoscopic approaches for the repair and prevention of parastomal hernia.

In 2017, for the first time, the ESCP was able to run a hands-on cadaveric laparoscopic colorectal skills course. This was possible due to a generous educational grant from Johnson & Johnson which included the opportunity to run the course at the world renowned European Surgical Institute (ESI) at Hamburg.

This highly popular pre-congress course was first conducted in Milan in 2016 and repeated this year in Berlin. 35 participants were welcomed in the Storz facilities in Berlin. The speakers were selected for their expertise as well as their approachability. This resulted in a highly interactive day with open discussions without hesitation from the participants.

It was a privilege to run the pre-congress TAMIS hands-on course on behalf of ESCP’s Education Committee. The course was held at Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Campus Virchow-Klinikum on Tuesday 19 September 2017 and it was a great success.
