What made you want to specialise in colorectal surgery?

From the beginning of my career I was involved in colorectal surgery and it remains my preferred and main sub-specialty of interest.

What is the best part of the job?

Like most surgeons, I get particular satisfaction from seeing the immediate results of a procedure on patients.

How long have you been involved in ESCP and what made you want to become involved?

I have been involved in ESCP for more than ten years. It is a very useful place for all specialists in the field.

What do you value most about being involved in ESCP?

The opportunity to meet and discuss developments and innovations in the field with very motivated, committed, expert colleagues from around Europe.

What would your one bit of advice for younger surgeons starting their career in colorectal surgery be?

As well as urging them to work very hard, I’d encourage them to try to learn from the best - identify respected, good surgeons and learn from them. ESCP is a good place to start!
