As part of the initiative to establish a more clearly defined group within ESCP for younger surgeons, a meeting took place at this year’s congress in Milan. The session comprised a brief introduction by ESCP (now past) President Stefan Post and Secretary Eloy Espin, followed by a lot of interactive discussion about how the Society can best serve its younger members. Those present were able to register their interest in specific areas (for example, membership development, research and education initiatives). See below the summary of outcomes – and if you weren’t there and would like to get involved, there’s an invitation for you to submit today!

December Intestinal Failure Month

Following on from HIPEC month, ESCP will be focusing on Intestinal Failure throughout December. We have a fantastic schedule of expert contributions lined up throughout the month including interviews, videos, paper reviews and, a first for ESCP, a live Tweet chat!

We are excited to announce that ESCP will be running its third cohort study in February - May 2017. This study will collect data on patients undergoing left sided anastomoses, completing the ESCP’s series of studies about colonic anastomoses.

ESCP would like to congratulate the collaborators, support staff and patients that participated in the ESCP Snapshot Audit 2016, as the audit captured 2527 surgical operations in 48 countries across 312 centres. The preliminary results will be presented at the ESCP conference in Milan during the International Trials Results Forum session.
